Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

I love that @soul

I wonder what it would say about a male pregnancy - now some of us know that the male sea-horse gets all the eggs into his pouch and gives birth himself - so a male pregnancy is not unknown

I have to see what Cortana has to say about this idea though

If men were able to get pregnant, that would be the end of the human race @Owlunar.

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hi @soul

I think the idea was that if every second pregnancy had to be carried by the male then the human race would diminish - and considering the over-crowding on the planet - maybe that would be a good idea

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @Blueberry

come and meet @Owlunar, @soul, @Former-Member, @Determined, @Faith-and-Hope

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hello @Blueberry

Nice to meet you. Most of us here have much loved dogs (we have 2 whippets). What type of dog do you have? (I don't think that
@Faith-and-Hope has any pets but could be wrong).

Whilst I understand not everyone can do it, finding this thread where others are committed to their partners and have learned how to cope has been less isolating for me.

Looking forward to getting to know you.

Darcy

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hi @Former-Member nice to meet you and thank you for making me feel welcome.
Ours is a rescue dog but we are pretty confident she is a sharpei and staffy cross.
Things have been a bit easier since my husband has been willing to be more open about his illness. But I think that it is hard for people who aren't carers to understand how constant and intense it can be to live with someone who has a chronic illness. And to be honest I often feel defensive in conversations about it as I am worried that if i say "this is hard", it might be taken as a reflection on my husband.
Thank you for listening (*reading*:))
How old are your dogs?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Hi @Blueberry, nice to meet you and your rescue dog. Poor @Faith-and-Hope if she doesn't have a dog. How does she go for a walk?

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

We have a German Shepherd guard dog ..... you don't take him for a walk, he takes you !! Lol ..... he's on rocket fuel ..... :face_with_rolling_eyes:

I don't take him walking cos I need a relaxing time out on my walks @soul ..... but he has a heart of gold .... he has taught me to like dogs ....., being an all-out cat person myself ..... but WH hates cats ..... at least he says he hates cats cos his mum hates cats, but I think if we had one he would fall in love with it ..... only his OCD is preventing him from wanting to touch anything much at the moment so a cat would drive him nuts while he is this ill ..... but his well self would learn to appreciate a car very quickly I think .....

That wasn't muddled much, was it ? Might need a power nap sometime soon ....,

😜🤣

@Blueberry

Our tan brindle boy is 10 and our blonde girl 3, they are Mr Darcy's best friends, particularly the boy.

No need to hold back or feel defensive here, it is hard work and we understand, just tell it like it is, we do the same.

@Shaz51 (aka Shazzle Dazzle) is the resident expert on a husband with depression and she has been kind enough to answer some questions that I had. Her husband (aka Mr Shaz) might be coming down with the man flu whilst she has been soldiering on, crook for some days and still has a sore neck.
