Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Re: Ups and Downs of Husband`s Mental Illness

Yeah ..... all really complex @Former-Member. No, mil hasn't moved in with us, but WH is as good as moved in with her .... jogs to her house and back twice a day and eats two of his meals there ..... it's an enmeshed situation that is just a progressive part of his undiagnosed mi issues and not something I can do anything about. They are both unwell, and all I can do is keep trying to hold the fort together here for now.

S2 has burnt out and dropped his bundle. He is not wanting to blame his dad and it's turned onwards as self-blame, mirroring WH's accusations towards him about being lazy and incompetent (designed to make him step up ..... mil's parenting ideas) like a self-fulfilling prophesy .... but WH is swinging between "good cop" (aka Father Christmas) and "bad cop" (sl*dge h*mmer) ....

I have to leave it to the psych to work it out cos any time I speak up it is making things worse. Mil has succeeded in invalidating me at this point in time, but that won't last. The wheels are starting to fall off this thing as I had been prepped that they would.

Hard to walk through .... but so glad to have the forums and friends irl .....

Battening down the hatches and trying to just stay calm .... and walking .... and painting .....

Thank you @Former-Member ..... I hope to be able to write one day the insight has broken through to my husband, and that he is taking medication and making lifestyle changes.  I am taking courage from your strength in your situation ....
