You’re fine @MissinTooth
I was raised by my father. As a woman it’s the only reason why fixing things comes naturally to me.
It’s not your fault about the handle. Definitely a design flaw.
Is there a local Men’s Shed in your area?
Those blokes are awesome at fixing things.

@Dreamy when it happened I was pretty shocked and was like “what’s happening?!” “What do I do about it?” I tried to leave the front door open, hoping that that would make the fire alarm stop going off…but then the lady at reception told me that if I did that, then I would risk getting a big fine and having every residents fire alarms going off too… o_o which is strange but if that’s true, I did not know that…
But now it’s a relief that it already stopped before I came back to my room (and while I was down at reception telling them about it 🥲) … but still not worth experiencing to be honest, it was kind of scary not gonna lie

@Blackcloud i usually wave a tea towel under mine to get it to stop. Mine used to be ridiculously sensitive to the slightest bit of heat but thankfully they replaced it and the new one hasn't had an issue. Not sure what the rules are when it comes to being in student accommodation.
I'm glad it stopped. Completely understand how scary it can be. But I think you handled it very well, all things considered.

@Dreamy Another staff member did suggest to use a hairdryer to blow im guessing towards the fire alarm? in order for it to stop. So the next time that happens, I’ll have to remember to use the hair dryer for that. But then I know I’ve just learnt my lesson especially when it comes to cooking things at a high heat, which is to probably heat it up at around maybe like 7-8 level and not 8-9 level.. o_o cause I think heating it up at 8-9 level was what made the fire alarm go off. And there was a fair amount of smoke coming out from it as well while I was cooking lol
its interesting how I’m always learning new things as I go

Blood sugar seems to slowly be coming down its steady now at around 10.5 which is better than 12,13 and 15 point something, no money has come out of my account today so not so stressed at the moment
