Re: Sunday Social Chat

@Glisten Wait...just saw this..

The wooden handle of my wood heater split in my hands tonight. It just fell apart, split in two. I now have to figure out how to fix it. I was going to try super glue, but I'm thinking it might melt. I do not own tools and I'm muddling through with life stuff so not very...fix it...at all.

Re: Sunday Social Chat

I hope you have a great rest @Cuddlebear which apart from keeping up fluids is the best thing to do for COVID, if it's not too bad. It's been lovely to meet you and chat to you tonight. We hope the social chat is uplifting for people, so I'm glad it was for you.

When my grandmother was in the nursing home I used to take my dogs in to see her, she loved dogs too and all the other residents wanted to see and pat my dogs, but they weren't registered so you know insurance for nursing home blah blah

Re: Sunday Social Chat

What is your wood heater made of? @MissinTooth

@Sparky79 what was your suggestion for the wood heater handle triage?

Re: Sunday Social Chat

@Glisten um...metal...I don't know I'm sorry. I'm pretty useless with stuff. Oh dear!

Re: Sunday Social Chat

Maybe post a photo of the handle when you are able to @MissinTooth and we can try and come up with suggestions.

An epoxy resin glue (those ones you mix together like araldite) should be ok with the heat, but it will have to be totally set before you light the fire because it will give off fumes otherwise (which is going to be like 24hrs).

Depending on size of handle might be able to use a type of joint like using a type of peg, but need to see it

guys something crazy just happened. While I was cooking my chicken, my fire alarm then went off like probably 20 seconds after I started cooking it and it went for like a few minutes. I did wait a bit until I had to go down to the reception to let them know, but by the time I came back to my room after telling the reception about it, my fire alarm already stopped going off, so that’s a phew!

crazy how that happened lol and my first time experiencing my own fire alarm going off… o_o

Re: Sunday Social Chat

@Blackcloud oh I hate when they go off. How are you holding up after that? I know it can get the heart racing.

Re: Sunday Social Chat

@Glisten araldite would be the best easy to get solution. Coles and woolies has it, it's a 2 part epoxy glue, I'd go the quickset one, just make sure the glue only goes on the wood as you don't want it sticking to the metal as that expands and contracts. Glue it, then use some rubberbands to hold it together around the metal handle unti it sets.

I really appreciate this, thank you.

I'm going to bed...my brain just can't be functional brain at the moment, but I'll jump on and have a look at what you think, in the morning.
