Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

@TAB  @cutiepiekitty

Yep, I'm  a  swimming instructor.

I've been reading about your swimming @cutiepiekitty awesome news,  keep it  up!

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

sorry @Angels333  thanks for reply and tagging me

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Just people in general @TAB Not pointing fingers at anyone on forums (that was not meant).

Even in self-help (support groups) - I've found myself supporting & listening to everyone else's issues.

Whilst no-one gave the time of day, to listen to mine.

In fact they often talked right over the top of me.

I ran a 12-Step support group, years ago...

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

oh gosh @Adge  thats rough. I'm sorry

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Thanks @TAB I kind of gave up on support groups, even though they are a good idea.

Because the support usually wasn't there.

Anyway, I'll try to get onto something more positive....

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

I did 12 step type thing years ago @Adge  ok it was a precursor to that, it had some benefit, but as found out later there all sorts of people there for all sorts of reasons

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

Good point @TAB I guess we all have different expectations (of groups etc), & different backgrounds.

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

and expectations and or motivations are not necessarily consistent even in an individual attending a group @Adge

Re: Saturday Soiree - all welcome!!

As soon as people hear that I work as a Disability Carer @TAB They say (or expect) me to want to care for them (& listen to their problems).

That's in a Support Group - when I went there to get my own support (for me).

Ironically, I was actually trying very hard to get out of disability (carer) work at that time...
