Hi @Judi9877 , thanks for sharing your picture with us. It looks really nice and would look great coloured in. Thankyou also for your kind words about my diamond painting, it slow and steady progress with starry nights 🙂 I think it would be awesome as a cross stitch as well. It's funny as I heard some people talking about it this morning in a podcast that I listen to fairly frequently. I did some reading up about it and learnt a few more things as well 🙂
I dId a little googling about the other painting you mentioned and I think its probably a Picasso. Hope you have some time for crafting between all your studies today. Take care 🙂

Hi @Gazza75 @CheerBear @FragileMe @Judi9877 @saturnzoon @Maggie and all the other "Crafters" out there.
@Gazza75 ... I have a question for you, about the diamond painting. I actually finally got to Spotlight last week. I needed something to do during my 11 day self imposed exile. 😢 Something to occupy my mind and prevent all the 'junk' from taking over my head and thoughts. I did as you suggested and got one of the starter kits. It was a butterfly actually ... I had @Zoe7 in mind at the time, and it was kind of cute. I will take a photo later and post it here so you can see my little mini masterpiece. 🤣 Anyway that went well and I was happy with the result. I then got keen and purchased the green tree frog. Its much bigger, 27cm x 37cm, and so far its going well.
Now, to my question ... have you tried the square drills as yet? I have read that they are much clearer and less pixelated. Although from pictures online it looks like the round drills have a very good result as well, especially for large canvasses. I also read that the square drills are smaller than the round, thus taking longer. And also that you need to be more precise with your placement. Interested in your thoughts, especially if you've done any in square drills. Would it be fair to say perhaps that smaller canvases may be better with square drills?
Anyway my little foray into craft has started okay. I've never really done much by way of craft. I was always the one out on the sporting field, and never time to do any craft activities. But now that I'm old and decrepit 🧓 I need to find something I can still do. I have noticed that I can get quite involved in it, which is a good thing. Although my eyes are not that great and I am getting some eye strain as a result. Might have to get that checked. I also noted that I cannot do my diamond painting when I am really upset or anxious ... way too shaky. 😒 But when I can calm myself down a bit, I do okay.
Good on you @Bunniekins for contemplating giving the diamond painting a go too. I hope you do it, and will be very interested to see how it goes and what you think.

Good on you @Former-Member. That's really great. I will be trying square drills soon. Bit nervous about them as I think it will be a lot slower. I have 4 or 5 of them to do, one. Is really big.
The tree. Frog will look awesome and keep you busy for a while I am probably going to frame mine and give it to my brother.
Onto the 2nd week working on this one.. ❤️❤️🌼🌼☕☕
Lovely to hear from you Sherry as always.

Thanks @Maggie, hope you are having a good afternoon. Did you get some rock dotting in? 😊
Looks like. A big turnout for all those protests. Pretty amazing turnout Fingers crossed the politicians take some action and implement some. Positive change.

@Former-Member, I use a magnifying glass now. I didn't for the first. Few I did. Also. Suggest a very small amount of warmed up blue tac pushed into the tip of the pen. Remove excess so you don't get extra beads sticking. And. Also. To stop it going onto the canvas. Once you get it right works.much better than the wax.. Can get hours at a time with it.
With the square drills most people do. A. Checkerboard pattern and then fill. In the gaps.
Look forward to seeing your butterfly when you can share. 😊😊🐸

Thanks @Gazza75 I may have to utilise a magnifying glass too in future. Good tip about the blue tac, I might give that a try. Although the red wax stuff that comes in the kit seems to work okay for me for a long time. I dont have to recharge the stylus that often anyway. With the square drills, re the checkerboard pattern ... does the instructions and order of the drill placements indicate that, or is it something that is suggested by those in the know?
Just took a photo of my little beginner butterfly. See attached. @Zoe7 ... one for you my friend. Had difficulty photographing it properly as the light comes through on the drills and makes it look weird with all the sparkly bits. See how we go here. Hope the pic works. I have been watching your Eels play tonight too Zoe ... oh dear ... not a good start at all. Hope they can turn things around real quick. My son in law is a mad keen Eels supporter and is already giving up according to a text he sent tonight. Not pretty at all.
By the way @Gazza75 , I wasnt trying to copy or emulate you by doing the frog. Its just that it was the only kit I liked in Spotlight when I was there. And I have always been very partial to green tree frogs. We get them here a lot in summer. I really do like frogs of all sorts in fact. Speaking of which, I might go and do a bit more of my frog painting now for half an hour or so. My eyes dont last much longer than that.
