Re: Long term unemployment

jeez @john74  is there anything stopping you from train driving ?

I tell myself I would have liked to have done that. years since I could pass a Cat 1 medical tho

Re: Long term unemployment

@TAB l would need to start training again because it's been about 10 years since l drove trains. I applied for 2 positions advertised on Friday but because l am more than 50 km from the locations the virtual assistant stopped my application  but another company who has drivers in the same town says ypi can live 100 km from the depot. ( l live in Ballarat and the positions are based in Geelong and Maryborough )

Re: Long term unemployment

I was borrowing $ from parents 10 years back after running out of cash when in mines @john74  had work to go to. was pretty touch and go for a while lol . Got through it.

maybe need some back up $ b4 trying for driving jobs ? just got to get to first pay anyways , depends how far you can push it.  maybe trying to become more mobile ie can just get up and go for work might be a goal ?

Can I ask why you stopped driving trains the last time ?

Re: Long term unemployment

are you on jobseeker or dsp ? can you get an advance ? @john74

Re: Long term unemployment

@TAB Also the rail operators will avoid training drivers from scratch If  possible because of the cost it's easiest for them to poach staff from other rail operators or offer incentives to older drivers to defer retirement. It's silly because the company's get a subsidy from the government to train people so they don't wear the total cost.

Re: Long term unemployment

@TAB l am on dsp but already have an advance and it would cost to much to break the lease on my home
