Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Oh my @chookmojo, i think you are right, ah the chips and mayo, that is Belgian, or French, i can never remember, they always serve chips with mayo.

Yes everyone has things they like, i saw an add for Vegimight with avocado and lemon, i tried it and nearly threw up it was so disgusting

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

@Appleblossom love how you write meaninful responses to everyone. Smiley Happy

@Crazy_Bug_Lady I just read the stigma thread that Appbleblossom mentioned. That is really poor behaviour from your supervisors. It makes me mad and sad to hear that people say such horrible things! It's no wonder you are feeling down. I wonder if they actually understand how inapprorpiate they are being.

I started a thread sometime ago about what NOT to say to someone with MI. Some of the stuff other members wrote about is so cringe worthy that it makes me laugh uncomforably and make me upset at the same.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Avocado, lemon and vegemite actually doesn't sound too bad in my books @Jacques - did you think the same thing before trying it out?

I'm with @chookmojo and @Jacques - mayo and chips is delicious combination.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

OMG @Crazy_Bug_Lady, i can't believe someone actually said that about SH, i SH a lot, it would make me spiral so bad if someone said that to me, i am so sorry you had to experiance such ignorant people, an uneducated person can be so cruel to what they don't understand.

I am glad you can come here and be with friends, people who understand.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Probably the most insulting stigma responses I've had have been said to me by two different women. The first time I heard it was from a gastroenterologist I was seeing for my Crohns Disease. I told her about my long struggles with depression and she told me that if I had a child I wouldn't have time to be depressed. Same comment from a friend once. This is mental health stigma and stigma for being a childless woman all wrapped up in one.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

hey @Appleblossom

Good to 'see' you.

Yeah, I'm having a down week, and that means that all that stuff was floating around my head and I was getting worked up.

And being down and returning to work mean I'm feeling horrible. All the bad stuff, the negativity, has been swirling around.

At least me venting it all out on here helped me to deal with some of it. I couldn't talk, or even be near my supervisor, the person who made nearly all (all but the cu..ter comment, which was another supervisor). And the last time I didn't talk to her for an extended period I had to have HR meetings...

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

No i saw the add and was more curious than anything, i am not curious anymore though Smiley LOL

I am a fan of always learning, wether it be food, literature, language, philosophy, music, i always try to expand my knowledge, to stop learning is to become ignorant.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

When my son was in a darker place he watched many shows I was not comfortable with.  I figured it better that we shared them than he watched alone or we fought over it.

I had to toughen up some of my responses ... and we talked about all that it was a growing thing rather than pure escapism ... we also watched The Wire together .. and I did get something out of watching both shows.  Also my son knew about my early drug use and we could relate about the similarities and differences etc.

Now I dont feel so bad as he is over 21 and free to make his own choices.  It was his idea to have a sitcom to lighten the mood ... which I thought was great. I think he has mentioned Rectify ... but he havent watched it together yet ... I let it be his call ... what is family couch time.

He is really good at picking out movies for me .. I sometimes make lousy choices cos I am not uptodate.  He understand directors and actors better than me ... so I see it as a good trait as he has a sense of looking out for another person's point of view.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

Hey @Jacques

The SH comment was a few years ago, and at the time that me off (SH). at that time, it had almost been a year since I'd harmed. Since then, I haven't made a longer clean streak than my current one of three months. Which sucks.

The person who made the other comments has been fairly okay in regards to comments. Which is a bonus.

Re: The Weekly Friday Feast

I think it takes a huge amount of courage to stick it out professionally around those types of supervisors @Crazy_Bug_Lady.Three months is good .. its important to externalise the thoughts and triggers ... not turn inward.

We know we are not our thoughts or even our behaviours ...I belive we are something more .... I am starting to have conversations with them and telling them to "get back in their box" etc ... I used to feel our dog was treated better than me ... we would like to be treated with the kindness that you treat your animals. Life is tricky as we are all alone in many ways.

Good people managers are special.  Unfortunately there are not enough of them.

You were pleased about the show though ... are there any good projects that are coming up?
