@BPDSurvivor  Today Wednesday 16 August 2023 What virtual location are you in today?

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

Hey @Glisten , on that day, I believe I was in Melbourne. In a town named after Truganini - one of the last remaining full blood Indigenous females.

Yet as I look around, I sort of wonder why places have indigenous names when there’s so little understanding of the culture.

I wish I knew more. The culture amazes me and I have such a deep appreciation for our First Nations people.

What about you @Glisten ? Where were you then?

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

Probably home in Western Australia ❤️

Think I made these

You would have loved the Humanities Degree I did.

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

heya there @Glisten !

Super cool stools! How’d you make them? Is it hessian or something?

I don’t give myself enough time to make things. I like doing it, but just don’t prioritise it.

Im in melb today. It’s cooler than I expected. I’m sure it’s nice and warm where you are.

Ill be posting photos when I go away next - in a few weeks.

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

@BPDSurvivor  😳 Hessian? … No.

It is textile art technique called an envelope weave. 150 metres of cotton cord hand woven in layered cross sections to produce a taut functional alternative to traditional seating.

Otomys in Melbourne sells textile art by Jo Elbourne, whose work I admire.

Re: Join us on our virtual walk around Australia!

Thank you for the compliment. Very kind of you 🙂
