Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Hibeveryone...
@shaz, how do you throw things away? I can't, just can't 😞

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Giving things to charity is a good alternative @Former-Member.

If you hoard magazines, then buy some folders with clear plastic sleeves and pare down the magazines ..... you were keeping them for a reason .... so remove the reason to the folder. Tearing out all the advertising pages is another option, and you will find there is only 10% of the magazine left .....

With clothes and other household items, consider how much you use them, then form a mental image of families who have suffered flood or fire decestation to their homes ..... or have fled domestic abuse ..... or are poverty stricken for any reason and imagine them having that item, loving it, and putting it to good use.

Exchange things. Consider that to being something home from the op-shop, you have to contribute something back .... and slowly turn over the things you no longer need for new things, which in turn will get exchanged later .....

See what garden decorations you can make from unused items ..... old cutlery and other metal items make good wind-chimes when they are strung together with other decorative items ......

I use old, favourite broken cups to hold paintbrushes, so I can still look at them and they bring me joy, but they are also functional ...,, you can chip a hole into the bottom of those and plant a small plant into them, and use an old piece of furniture on the verandah or in the garden to display them .....

You can use old favourite handbags like a filing cabinet .... find a set of shelves to put them on, or construct some with planks of wood and other hoarded household items to stack at each end, then plank across the top, more household items (old vase, books in a stack, solid enough ornament) then another plank ..... then label the handbags A - F, G - K, L - Q, R - T, U - Z and store paperwork in them .....

Use an old purse to hold all little cards, like dr's cards, plumber, electrician, other ......

Make a stationery corner and make it appealing, using old shoeboxes etc decorated with magazine pics of favourite things to house wrapping paper, ribbon, cards ......

You can get creative with your stuff ..... or exchange it for better stuff .... and you might start to do a deal with yourself - for every 1 new item, 2 existing ones have to go to a new home.

Re: Hot Chocolate Anyone ?

Thanks everyone for all the birthday wishes from Monday.  You are all such wonderful people.

My trip South has been delayed 2 days, so now I am leaving first thing in the morning.  My brother is not in a good way, and I need to be there for him.  For whatever small comfort I can be.  I am seriously concerned for him, as obviously is his psych given she rang to say I should be there.

Hubby is doing a little better now with his eye, getting some good news yesterday after his eye scans last week.  He doesnt have a retinal detachment.  So now he seems to be content that all will eventually be well, but that it will take time.  He has been told he shouldnt be driving for about 3 months, so thats a real pain in the butt.  But I have made arrangements with the neighbour to get him to an appointment on Friday, while I am away.

I may not have access to internet while I am away, as my brother lives on a farm and internet as well as phone coverage is very limited and spasmodic.  But I will update you if I get the chance.

Long day tomorrow.  Catching the train at 10am and changing at Sydney before travelling on further.  I finally get where I need to be at around 9pm.  And given that I have been getting no sleep the past few nights, I will be pretty tired by then.  Too many things I've been worrying about I guess.

All going well I will be home again next Tuesday or Wednesday.  Talk further then.  I hope everyone has a good week in my absence.

Heart
